Marshall sophomore QB Dylan Poore rushed for two first-quarter TDs to get a sputtering offense rolling early en route to a 36-0 victory over Holmes. Marshall moves to 3-3 on the season and opens District 28-6A Zone A with an important victory.

Poore would reach the end zone from 1-yard to open the scoring and then from 19 yards with seven seconds remaining in the opening quarter to give the Rams a 14-0 advantage after a period of play. Freshman RB Kvontavious Rockett broke free on a 25-yard TD run with 8:27 remaining in the second quarter to boost the lead to 21-0 before halftime. Rockett led the Rams offense with 100 yards rushing, while Poore chipped in with 84 yards and accounted for three TDs on the night, two of them on the ground.

Arizona State commit Stanley Lambert got on the scoreboard, taking a Poore pass 29 yards for a TD. Lambert only has four catches on the season, three of them have gone for TDs.

Holmes struggled to move the football and were minus-4 in turnover differential in the loss. The Huskies could only muster 151 total yards against what was the top-ranked defense in the division heading into Week 6.

Sophomore Malcolm Wisher led the team in rushing with 83 yards, while the passing game struggled on the night finishing 3 of 15 through the air.

Marshall will take its .500 mark at Farris Stadium on Thursday to face No. 8 Brandeis, who defeated Taft 52-3 on Friday night to move to 5-1 on the season. Holmes will search for its first district victory against No. 10 Brennan at Gustafson Stadium, which also will take place Thursday.
