QUOTES

Head Coach Derek Riedel on the men:
“The men continue to get better week by week and that’s encouraging to see – as they move through the season they are getting hungrier and hungrier and really enjoy the competitive environment. It was exciting to see Uchenna Nnaji break the stadium record and set a PR in the 200 as well as win the 400. Andrew Luethner won the 100m and set a huge PR in the 200 and that was a big confidence boost for him. Garett Cortez showed his versatility by winning the 800 with a 3 second PR of 1:53 – it was a good tune up for the 5k at UTA. This meet was a good tune up for the men on their way to a highly competitive meet at UTA next weekend.”

Riedel on the women:
“We saw many strong performances both days. Myah Antwi and the throws crew competed well and showed they’ll continue to improve. Our 4×1 started off with one of the best opening season times they’ve had in program history. Jerica Love was fantastic in the 100 hurdles. She is running with a lot of confidence in the hurdles. Sarea Alexander is redshirting this semester so this is her first competition since the outdoor conference, but she came out on fire in the long jump and nearly set a PR. Madison Miles also looked strong in the long jump on her way to a big PR. Overall, the women did some good things and know what we need to adjust on our way to conference.”
