Largo | 61 |
C. Milton Wright | 46 |
In their first game at North Point, Largo’s boys dominated C. Milton Wright, 61-46, thanks to another stellar performance by their star forward, Cam Ward, which helped them advance to the Maryland 2A state final.
The exclamation point came late in the game when Ward found himself alone in transition. He threw down a ferocious dunk and played to the crowd.
Ward scored 25 points, Johnson added 14, and Yawn had nine, including a layup and an assist on a 3-pointer during the Mustangs’ third-quarter run, which ended the team’s season at the final four.
In the end, Largo managed to secure an 8-0 run that pushed their lead to 39-32, leading Scott to call a timeout. Although C. Milton Wright made an effort to reduce the gap to single digits with less than four minutes remaining, Largo’s size and skill proved too much for them to handle.
Largo (24-2) will play Carver in the state championship game on Friday at Xfinity Center.
