Sophomore running back L.J. Butler rushed for five touchdowns as Wagner went to 3-0 in District 13-5A-I competition with a 69-0 victory over Edison on Friday night at D.W. Rutledge Stadium in Converse.

Butler opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game with a 75-yard touchdown run. Later in the opening stanza, Butler would score from 4 and 30 yards, respectively, and the rout was on for the Thunderbirds. Butler has 11 rushing touchdowns this season.

Tobias Weaver rushed for a touchdown and added another through the air to underrated junior prospect Joshua Cobbs as Wagner raced out of a 41-0 halftime lead.

Karlton Black added a touchdown run and an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second half for Wagner (4-1 and 3-0).

In three games this season, Wagner has outscored its district opponents by the score of 170-0. Edison fell to 0-5 and 0-3 in district play and will attempt to get into the win column next week against Sam Houston, who claimed a 35-6 win over Lanier on Friday.
