The Veterans Memorial’s earned its first shutout of the 2018 season with a 41-0 victory over Highlands tonight at D.W. Rutledge Stadium.
Patriots Imari Motley put the Veterans on the board first tonight with a 20-yard run, setting the tone for the night.
Lauro Mendoza found a hole in the Owls defense on a 4th and 10 to set up the next touchdown for the Patriots.
The Patriots would lead at the half 27-0.
Just about any of the Veterans Memorial defenders could be the star of the game, but Sophomore Simeon Woodward picked off two passes that put Patriots offense back on the field.
Veterans Memorial will take on Jefferson Mustangs on Friday night at Alamo Stadium, while Highlands will take on Wagner at D.W. Rutledge Stadium on Friday.
