Southside maintained its perfect start to the 2018 season with a 35-0 victory over Memorial on Thursday night in San Antonio Week 3 high school football action.

 

Quarterback Alejandro Escamilla completed 8 of 14 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns on the evening. Escamilla would open the scoring with 10:32 remaining in the opening quarter to get the Cardinals on the scoreboard.

Junior Michael Hernandez threw for a touchdown pass and caught six passes for 131 yards and a touchdown to pace Southside.

 

Memorial enters district play with a 1-2 mark on the season. The Minutemen struggled to get its running game moving all night, rushing for 66 yards. Cesar Flores and Tony Hernandez were the standout performers for Memorial.

 

Southside will face Somerset in a battle of 3-0 teams next Friday to open District 15-5A-II play, while Memorial opens with Uvalde (0-3) to begin its District 14-5A-II schedule.
