Tim McCrae picked up the loose football and returned a fumble 91 yards for a score as O’Connor defeated Brennan 30-23 on Saturday night.
Amani Arvelo got the Bears on the scoreboard first with a one-yard touchdown run at the 3:36 mark of the first quarter, gave the Bears a 7-0 early lead. Arvelo also scored another TD on a 6-yard run in the second quarter.
O’Connor’s David Dodd threw a 10-yard TD pass to Sam Castillo to put the Panthers on the board in the second quarter.
Brennan led at halftime 20-9.
In the third quarter, Tim McCrae pickled up the loose football in ran down the field untouched to score and the gap was narrowed to 20-17.
Panthers pushed the game into high gear, holding Brennan to one field goal the rest of the second half and scoring 21 unanswered points.
Jordan Maye scored on a 4-yard run and Jefflin Leslie added three field goals.
O’Connor improved to 9-0 and 8-0, Brennan fell to 6-3 and 6-2.
Panthers will match up against Stevens at Farris Stadium on Friday, Brennan will play the Holmes Huskies at Gustafson Stadium next Saturday night.
