John Jay stifled Laredo Johnson 42-0 in an impressive shutout Saturday night at Gustafson Stadium.

The matchup was highlighted by an impressive performance from John Jay quarterback Danny Amezquita, who finished with three passing touchdowns. 

The Mustangs scored in the first quarter when Amezquita hit Xadrian Huerta with a 40-yard touchdown pass. Second quarter Luis Caardona picked up two points for the Mustangs with a saftey. Amezquita completed another TD pass to Huerta 26-yards.

Mustangs led at the half 15-0.

John Jay’s Darnell Riley took over 3rd quarter with two rushing touchdowns. Riley finished with 89-yards rushing on the night.

To finish the scoring on the night Marcua Alcaraz scored on a nine-yard touchdown run and Jaden Brewer caught a 43-yard pass from Danny Amezquita.

Mustangs finished the game as a team with 490 total yards of offense (254 rushing, 246 passing), while holding Parker to just 49 total yards (61 passing, 24/-12 rushing)

John Jay will match up against Clark Cougars this Friday, September 6.
