Using its usual combination of a tough running game and stingy defense, No. 9 Clemens will definitely be making a big jump in the 210 Preps Top 10 after completing its second consecutive shutout in a 35-0 victory over East Central to open District 27-6A competition.

Clemens opened the scoring with 2:37 remaining in the first quarter when Vicente Perez hit blue chip wide receiver Tommy Bush on a 15-yard touchdown strike. Bush had been named to the Under Armour All-American Bowl game earlier in the day, and now his Buffaloes are 4-0.

It was the defense who were able to swarm the Hornets, holding East Central to 45 total yards, including negative-3 passing to go along with three interceptions. Jaques Tyler picked off another pass on Friday night, making it four for the season to tie for the team lead with Johnie Graham.

Since the second quarter of a 37-21 Week 2 victory over MacArthur, the Buffaloes have stampeded offenses and have not allowed a single point in 10 quarters. Clemens has allowed a mere 147 total yards over the past two games.

In Week 5, Clemens will host Wagner, who fell to Canyon to open district play 38-13 at home.
