The passion surrounding high school football took center stage this week, as the district rivalry game was sold out in just a few minutes. With the Parking lot full, two hours before kickoff, fans took to the bleachers to claim their spot. Light rain at the stadium didn’t dampen the spirit of the enthuiastic crowd as they cheered their teams during warmup drills and the game. Attendance at the game was counted at 8400.
Brandeis was first to score due to a blocked Panthers punt. The ball was picked up by Kaine Buchanan for a 38-yard rushing touchdown and good extra point for 1st quarter score 7-0 Broncos.
Panthers QB David Dodd answers back and runs one in from four yards out to get a touchdown to tie the game 7-7 early in the 2nd quarter.
Jordan Battles QB for the Broncos takes the lead back with a 31 yard touchdown run bringing the score to 14-7 late in the 2nd quarter.
Brandeis blocks another O’Connor punt and the ball is scooped up and returned by Mazlo Mitchell to get a Broncos touchdown 21-7.
Broncos led 21-7 at the half.
Broncos Joshua Green and Nicholas Dominguez tackle Panthers Zion Taylor in the end zone for a safety 23-7.
Panthers get on the board again in the 4th with a three yard run by QB David Dodd and a 2 point conversion makes it 23-13 Broncos.
Broncos QB Jordan Battles answers with a 45-yard rushing touchdown and a good extra point 30-15.
Battles scores again this time from 54 yard out to get the final touchdown of the game.
The Broncos win the game 37-15 and remain undefeated.
Whats’s Next? Brandeis will match up against the Holmes Huskies (0-6) and O’Connor will take on the Marshall Rams (1-5).
