Lewis needed 44 points to reach 1,000, and he finished Monday’s game scoring an impressive 45 points. Lewis knocked down six 3-pointers en route to 45. His 45 points surpassed the previous Johnsonville single-game scoring record of 43, held since the 1970s by Lavern Skinner and Randall Cox.
Lewis did not do it alone, all but two of his teammates scored during the game. As a team, they made a total of 13 three-pointers. The Golden Flashes had three scorers in double figures – Quez Lewis (45), Jordan Williams (15), and Jace Avant (11). Christian Taylor led the Whirlwinds with 19 points.
The Golden Flashes will match up against Hannah-Pamplico on Thursday.
