The Hawks scored 27 points in the first half and cruised to a 33-14 win over Hurricanes in the first round of the Class 5A Division 1 playoffs.
Aubrey McDade ran for 67 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 22 carries. He scored on runs of one and two yards.
Jacob Garcia ran an interception back 55-yards that lead to a touchdown.
Ethan Esparza scored on a 19 yard TD pass and a 12-yard TD pass.
Hawks led at halftime 27-0.
Hurricanes didn’t find the end zone until late in the 3rd quarter, QB Raymond Citizen scored both touchdowns for the Canes scoring on runs of one and 17-yards.
The Hawks improved to 8-3 with the victory and will face Veterans Memorial on Friday night. Hurricanes dropped to 5-6 to end the 2018 season.
