OK3Sports Football:  O’Connor Panthers vs Holmes Huskies

O’Connor 42, Holmes 6

David Dodd threw for 266 yards and a touchdown as O’Connor moved to 2-0 and 1-0 in District 28-6A with a 42-6 victory over Holmes. Junior Zion Taylor rushed for 145 yards and two scores, while Chase Locke caught seven passes for 102 yards and a TD.

O’Connor has won 15 out of its last 16 games and 13 straight in District 28-6A play. The last district blemish for the Panthers was to Brennan on Nov. 6, 2016.

No Roel Sanchez, no problem for O’Connor. Dodd has completed 77.8 percent of his passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns so far in 2018. Locke and Sammy Castillo lead the O’Connor receivers, who of course are boosted by TCU commit Brannon Brown and elite prospect Logan Parr up front.

DQ Haney ran for 59 yards and a touchdown for Holmes, who fell to 0-2 and 0-1 on the season. Two Holmes turnovers were enough to derail their efforts thus far in 2018.

Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Next week O’Connor take on Warren at 7:00 PM. Holmes will be defending their home turf for the first time this season when they go match up against Stevens at 7:00 PM.
