First Look: OK3Sports Photojournalist Bryant Turner’s raw edit from the 6A Girls Regional Finals Championship game featuring Judson Lady Rockets and the Westlake Lady Chaparrals at Littleton Gym in San Antonio, TX. on Saturday, Feb 29, 2020.
Judson 50, Westlake 47
Junior guard Kierra Sanderlin led all scorers with 30 points, but it’s what she did in the fourth quarter that is eye-popping: scoring 19 points to bring the Lady Rockets back from 10 points down to advance to the UIL state tournament for a fourth straight season.
Her points came in all manners, including free throws, drive to the baskets anyway to get the job done.
The game was a tight one from the start, Westlake led going into halftime 26-22. The Chaparrals came out leading all the third quarter well into the fourth.
Judson junior Kierra Sanderlin was molten lava hot in the fourth quarter, it was to much for the Lady Chaparrals.
Judson won 50-47, eliminating Westlake Lady Chaparrals for the third straigh year. Westlake offense was led by Shay Hollie with 21 points. Amira Mabry finished with 13 points for the Lady Rockets.
The Lady Rockets will take on the Duncanville Lady Panthers this Friday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
