Judson looked like the No. 1 team in Class 6A on Friday night.
Senior QB Mike Chandler II looked like a legitimate Mr. Football contender.
Chandler passed for 280 yards and three touchdowns –two in the first half to help build a lead that was never threatened.
Chandler found De’Anthony Lewis for a 32-yard touchdown in the first quarter to put the Rockets on the board first.
Humberto Villarreal 40-yard field goal with 4:37 left in the first quarter pushed the lead to 10-0.
The Rockets went on to score 28 points in the second quarter en route to a 35-0 haltime lead.
Chandler also connected with Amarea Bailey-Davis for a 32-yard touchdown pass and Davion Wilson for a 45-yard touchdown pass. Amarea Bailey-Davis lead all receivers with 140 yards on the night.
Aristide Brown ran for two touchdowns, Brown rushed for 82-yards and scored on runs of 16 and 50 yards. De’Anthony Lewis also scored on a 49-yard run.
Judson’s Darius Hughes had a 26-yard interception return for a score.
The Thunderbirds could not find the endzone until the bottom of the third quarter, Mark Alanis one yard run put the Thunderbirds on the board. Joerell Brown added a rushing TD (49-yards) to finish the Wagner’s scoring.
Judson finished the game as a team with 512 total yards of offense (214 rushing, 298 passing), Wagner finished with 249 total yards (249 rushing, 0 pass yards).
Next week: Judson faces Harlingen at home, while Wagner hosts Sam Houston.
