 Sam Houston claimed its first win of the season with a 35-6 victory over Lanier on Friday night in District 13-5A-I action at Alamo Stadium.

Brandon Adams rushed for 152 yards on 11 carries, including a 97-yard touchdown run, for the Hurricanes. Faiszon Reese added two touchdown runs for Sam Houston.

Austen Ashworth and Darian Anderson also added touchdown runs for Sam Houston, who moved to 1-3 and 1-1 in district play.

For Lanier (1-4 and 0-2), Christian Cervantes rushed for 101 yards and a second-quarter touchdown to help the Voks avoid the shutout.

Sam Houston will take on Edison on Thursday night, while Lanier will have its bye week before taking on Edison on October 12.
